INDIANAPOLIS — The abstract paintings of a noted Indiana artist will go on display Monday at the University of Indianapolis. The Last Thirty Years: The Art of Gregory Huebner will hang through Feb. 7 in UIndy’s Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center Gallery, 1400 E. Hanna Ave. The opening reception is 4-7 p.m. Monday in the gallery, which is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays with free admission.
Huebner is a professor emeritus of art at Wabash College who has exhibited throughout the Midwest since the 1970s. His work, usually acrylic paint on canvas, is included in more than 30 permanent public collections across the country and more than 80 private collections internationally. He draws inspiration from indigenous art, jazz music and other sources to explore the cycles of life and mankind’s place in nature.
