From The Indianapolis Star, Monday, January 5, 1914: The tango, the Boston, the fifty-seven and other new dances are growing in popularity largely because of the criticism they are receiving from the good people who imagine that they are doing the public a distinct service by assuming the attitude they do, not only toward the dances, but toward the people who enjoy them. \ One of the very best ways to arouse interest in these dances is to create the impression that they are not just what they should be. Undoubtedly a great many have taken up these dances merely to see what they are like. It is easy enough to criticize these dances, but it is difficult to understand why any person should presume, because he doesn’t dance them, that he is better than those who do.
