• Buck Creek Players is seeking donations of holiday wreaths or centerpieces for their silent auction fundraiser during their upcoming production of The Little Town of Christmas from Dec. 6-22. Contact them at 317-862-2270 and leave a message if you can give them a hand.
• The electrical boxes around Irvington are getting seriously arty. Last year, a group of very talented artists got the go-ahead to paint boxes along East Washington St. and other places. This fall, more artists are painting, including Shelby Kelly and Rita Spalding. Some great, inspirational work out there!
• Latest update on the surviving sheep in the Green Shepherd Project is that Twisty has progressed enough to come home. However, the nonprofit is looking at some hefty vet bills and continuing care for Twisty. Please consider making a contribution to them: Willard Park HCW, 341 N. Hamilton Ave., Indianapolis IN 46201. Please put “sheep” in memo line.
• Irvington Development Organization will be holding a Pub Crawl Nov. 23, hitting four Irvington area pubs, including Black Acre, Manley’s Irish Mutt, Nancy’s, and Si Greene’s. Cost for the evening is $25 in advance or $30 day of the event. Price includes transportation and entry to the pubs. Reservations are recommended. Visit irvingtondevelopment.org/membership and select the individual membership level then type PUB CRAWL in the “willing to volunteer” section. PayPal will walk you through the rest of it.
• The Be a Santa to Senior program is gearing up again, with donations at your local Walgreens store. They help buy gifts for needy seniors in the area. Buy a tree and help out someone who needs it this season.
• Thank you Texas Roadhouse on Shadeland Ave. for agreeing to be a drop-off point for toys for Gaia Works this year! The good people over there are very community-spirited and believe in our community.
• City Market is home to some great local food, including the eastside’s Fermenti Artisans. Now there’s a fish market inside, called Junonia, offering an assortment of fresh and salt water fish, plus many other products. Good to see the City Market at 222 E. Market thriving with new businesses!
• Seems like we just finished Halloween and Thanksgiving is smacking us in the face! It might be too early, but just putting it out there — the Weekly View will be publishing early, and distributing the paper on Wednesday, Nov. 27. If you have ads you want to get in for the Nov. 29 issue, we will need to have those by Nov. 22 at the latest for the regular paper, and Nov. 25 by noon for classified and home service ads.
