The 2013 Woodruff Place Home and Garden Tour, as in years past, celebrates the roots of the neighborhood, beginning with the strong sense of community that can be, in part, attributed to the Town Hall. The center of many formal and informal events for the neighborhood, the recently restored Town Hall continues as an important part of the fabric of Woodruff Place.
Through the years, many traditions have evolved to unite neighbors: July 4th Parade, Lawn Chair Brigade, Umbrella Chicks, spring and fall neighborhood clean-ups, Halloween party, Easter Egg Hunt, Home and Garden Tour, annual Flea Market, and others. Many new neighbors comment that they moved to Woodruff Place due to its reputation as an active and engaged community. Children are an integral part of the neighborhood, many attending Center for Inquiry #2, Arsenal Technical High School, and Herron High School. Half of the homes on the 2013 tour belong to families with children. It’s an easy place to get to know your neighbors and feel part of the roots that continue to grow.
As you take part in this year’s Home and Garden Tour, you will see a variety of architectural styles. Plan to take a long walk to see other home styles, fountains, and statuary. You are invited to explore the past and present through photographs on display at Town Hall during the tour. Ask about a courtesy shuttle at Town Hall. Celebrate Woodruff Place’s roots with us at the 2013 Home and Garden Tour.
