INDIANAPOLIS — On May 16, Sarah Dapper, one of the Indianapolis 500 Princesses visited Nativity Catholic School. Sarah was joined by her mother, Kathy Dapper.
Sarah visited the Pre-K classes and second grade classes. She taught the children facts and some of the history of the race and the track. The students also learned about the many events that happen in the city of Indianapolis during the month of May, including the Rookie Run, the 500 Parade and the Memorial Day services to honor our servicemen. During her talk, she told the students how the race car drivers always wear their seat belt, and encouraged the children to always wear theirs. She even brought in a helmet for the kids to touch to see how strong it is and to encourage wearing a helmet when biking.
During her visit the second graders worked on Indiana map skills. The Pre-kindergarten enjoyed its own 500 race with handmade race cars.
Nativity Catholic School is located in Franklin Township and serves over 350 students in southeast Marion County from preschool through 8th grade. For more information about Nativity Catholic School, please visit www.nativityindy.org
