IRVINGTON — On Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., residents of the east side will have a chance to celebrate the past, present and future of Irvington. The day features food trucks, live music, arts, crafts, theater, civic organizations, an alternative gift fair and more.
The day begins with recycling in the Irvington Library (5625 East Washington Street) parking lot from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Recycle Force will accept all typical recyclable items. Recycle Force does request a donation for all items with electronic screens such as t.v.s and computer monitors or refrigeration units to help with the costs of appropriate disposal.
Several civic organizations will exhibit during the day. Among them are the Irvington Delvelopment Organization and Irvington Historical Society which will highlight their partnership to purchase and restore the historic Irvington Post Office Building. The Historic Irvington Community Council will highlight the upcoming Irvington Folk festival scheduled for the first week of June. The Benton House Association will kick off its collection of used books for its annual used book sale fundraiser in August. The Irvington Garden Club will sponsor a sale of native plants.
Many businesses will offer special events and sales, and there will be entertainment from local musicians in the Shelley Shane Memorial Park, at Lazy Daze Coffee Shope, and much more. There will be a twenty minute sampler of “The Fowl” at Q Artistry (5512 East Washington) at 10:30 a.m. and Magic Donn Magic Tricks at the Irvington Library at 11 A.M.
From 10-5 Irvington hosts its second Alternative Gift Fair at the Irving Theater (5505 East Washington.) This fair features homemade crafts from local artisans.
Artists will also be exhibiting their works of fine art in many of the businesses and along the north side of Washington Street in the historic business district.
