GREENFIELD — Auditions are over and the performers who made the cut now have a matter of days to select their songs and prepare to sing their hearts out for Greenfield Idol 2013.
Greenfield’s answer to Ryan Seacrest in emcee, Trever Brown, will be hosting both evenings of the competition. New judges, as well as some returning judges, will bring expertise from the music industry. Entertainment will include the fabulous Hearts-A-Blaze cloggers and Greenfield Idol winners from 2012, Ethan Olvey and Allison Thomas, who will be on hand to crown a new winner. There will also be more prize money than last year. The 2013 winner will walk away with a $300 first prize.
The first of two nights of competition will take place on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. at the HJ Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., when the field of nine performers will be cut down to five. Then, in the final round on Feb. 23, Greenfield’s Idol for 2013 will be chosen from the final five contestants. Idol contestants include Brandon Crull, Lucy Davis, Halie Johns, Mary Levering, Megan Manning, Stephani McDole, Shelby Myers, and Terrie Rawlins.
The competition is open to the public. Tickets are available now at Hometown Comics for $10 — which will get you in to both evenings of the competition. Immediately following the quarterfinals on February 16th, tickets (also priced at $10) will be available for the finals on February 23rd. Tickets will also be available at the door an hour before the competition.
KidsPlay and the CrazyLake Acting Company plan to put the proceeds from the entire event to the KidsPlay Scholarship Fund. For more information, visit the Greenfield Idol Facebook page or e-mail chris@crazylake.com.
