INDIANAPOLIS — The Irvington business community is encouraged to participate in the Small Business Façade Improvement Program — a matching grant program of the Fostering Commercial Urban Strategies (FOCUS) Initiative at Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC). The Façade program is created to jumpstart retail and commercial development in Indianapolis’ urban neighborhoods by providing matching grants to property owners willing to renovate the street-front exteriors of their structures. The deadline for applying for the program is Jan. 25.

Any building owner or tenant of a building located in Marion County is eligible to apply, and improvements to the fronts of commercial buildings, such as attached signage, building entrances and windows, awnings, and masonry or wood repairs. Mixed use (housing and commercial) development is eligible, but projects that are solely rental or permanent housing are not eligible.
The Façade Improvement Program will reimburse up to 50 percent of the total project costs up to a maximum contribution of $20,000.
