INDIANAPOLIS —Eastside faith communities who are working together to develop a faith based network for green stewardship will meet on Jan. 12 from 9 to 11 a.m., at the Parish Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 5333 East Washington St. The Parish Center is just east of the Our Lady of Lourdes School. A light breakfast will be served starting at 8:30 a.m.
This is the third meeting of people from eastside congregations who either have or want to start a “green” ministry. New participants are welcome and can expect to meet and share ideas with other people of faith who want to answer the call to responsible stewardship of our environment. The goal of the network is to provide practical tools for churches and individuals to conserve energy, save money, and care for the planet.
One practical tool is the “Task of the Month” program developed by Hoosier Interfaith Power & Light, www.hoosieripl.org. Some of the eastside churches started the program on Jan. 1. Each month in 2013, these congregations will implement a different energy-saving measure in their homes that will reduce their carbon footprint.
