The program brings together cities with an aim to implement smart mobility policies and explore emerging technologies and mobility options.
Over the next year, Indianapolis will join twenty-one communities to share best practices in mobility and discover new technologies with a focus on reshaping the use of the right-of-way and curb space. The Smart Cities Collaborative focuses on the creation of city-specific goals and policies with curriculum regarding design, measurement, management, and the price of long-term transport infrastructure development.
Indianapolis will focus time and resources toward the development of “mobility hubs.” These mobility hubs will blend tranportation options — bus line, bike share stations, bike parking, and vehicle sharing – into several, centralized locations in walkable environments.
Indianapolis was selected from a group of 50 cities that applied to be a part of the Collaborative this year. The first meeting will be held in Denver April 16-17.
