IRVINGTON — Passages is an exhibit of the work of Patricia Mae Peat Dusendschon (1928-2011), the daughter of former John Herron Art nstitute director Wilbur Peat. The exhibit will be at the Bona Thompson Memorial Center through Aug. 26, with an opening reception May 5.
Dusendschon was an art historian, art instructor, and “an extraordinarily gifted artist.” In the summer of 1968 she took a “Voyage into Antiquity” with the Art Association of Indinapolis, and the four-week cruise through the Mediterranean, Aegean and Adriatic Seas made such a latsting impression on her that she moved to Athens, Greece where she became an English and art teacher at Pierce — the American College of Greece. In addition to her teaching, Patricia Dusendschon created numerous works of art using pastels, watercolor and mixed media to capture the light and shadow of the Aegean world.
The Bona Thompson Memorial Center is located at 5350 E. University. Hours are Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m., Saturdays from 1-4 p.m., Sundays from 1-4 p.m. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.
