Previously, children would be allowed to enroll if they were 5 by Sept. 1.
Students who turn 5 after Aug. 1 will be allwed to enroll or apply to a free, all-day IPS preschool program. Students who attended an IPS Pre-K program during the 2017-18 school year and  who turn 5 after Aug. 1 will have to enroll in a second year of preschool.
Because the eligibility rule wasn’t adopted until March, students matched with IPS kindergarten programs, but don’t meet the new age requirements, will be allowed to keep their seats.
