INDIANAPOLIS — The Holy Spirit Catholic Church Summer Festival & Monte Carlo will be held on July 11th, 12th & 13th on parish grounds at 7243 E. 10th Street. Hours are 5:30 to 11 p.m. on Thursday, 5:30 p.m. to Midnight on Friday and 1p.m. to Midnight on Saturday.
Monsignor Paul D. Koetter, pastor of Holy Spirit Church, said “We seem to have a perfect mix of food, entertainment and activities for all ages — we’re praying that the weather is perfect and we don’t have three days of monsoons.”
The annual festival consists of more than 30 church booths with a variety of food, crafts and other merchandise along with popular carnival games and rides for young and old. Booths featuring Mexican fare, Filipino and Greek foods will compete with traditional festival fare.
The rummage sale and the silent auction areas are two of the most visited, along with the cake and crafts booth featuring a quilt raffle. Home-made family dinners will again be prepared by Holy Spirit volunteers, available in the main tent located in front of the church, at a low price of $7 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Dinners include two sides and a drink and will be served from 5:30-7:00 p.m. each evening. A pork chop dinner will be featured Thursday, a Fish Fry dinner on Friday and Saturday’s dinner will feature Pulled Pork.
For children and teens, the amusement rides will be in operation during all festival hours with approximately 20 traditional and new rides available. A “One-Price-Ride Matinee” on Saturday from 1 to 5 p.m. will allow children to enjoy unlimited rides for a flat fee. The Rose Garden, sponsored by Manley’s Irish Mutt Pub, will feature various international entertainment each night from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 4:00-6:30 p.m. Entertainment chairman, Chris Hess has also scheduled many local bands playing original music and covers. Thursday evening at 8:00 p.m. features Mojo Gumbo and Friday at 8:00 p.m. features The Connoisseurs. On Saturday afternoon, The Scecina Rock Band will perform form 1-4 pm and late evening the popular group Kevin Rafferty’s New Trio will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
Cash prizes totaling thousands will be awarded over the three-day period, in six 50/50-jackpot drawings every night at 8:00 and 10:30-11 p.m. Those purchasing 24 or more tickets can win a 32” flat screen TV. Winners need not be present to win. Those purchasing advanced ride tickets are eligible for the bicycle drawings at 5 p.m. Saturday.
Festival parking is available at the Crossroads Bible College at 601 N. Shortridge Road and at the SE corner of nearby Gold’s Gym, where continuous shuttle bus service will be provided each evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. until close. Advance tickets for drawings or rides may be purchased by contacting Holy Spirit, 7243 E. 10th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
