INDIANAPOLIS — IndyVet Emergency & Specialty Hospital is hosting a hands-on Pet First Aid & CPR training class Saturday, Nov. 2 to teach pet owners how to assess and handle emergency situations. The class takes place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at IndyVet, located at 5425 Victory Drive, immediately south and east of the I-465 and South Emerson Avenue interchange near Beech Grove.
Common emergency-related topics like vomiting, trauma, shock, bleeding, choking, poisoning, heat stroke, broken bones, burns, paralysis and more will be covered. Vet techs will supply pet owners with plenty of hands-on experience as they utilize a life-sized mannequin, also known as the “ResusciDog,” to demonstrate proper ways to administer CPR on an animal.
Doors open for registration at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $50 per person, which includes an animal first aid manual, instruction from experts in emergency veterinary medicine, extensive hands-on training, refreshments, certificate of completion and a tour of IndyVet’s 22,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility. Pre-registration is required, and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Class size is limited, and participants are asked to leave their own pets at home.
